Prince Of Dogs

Sanglant - the prince of dogs, King Henry's bastard son - is being held captive in the city of Gent by Bloodheart, the Eika warlord.

Liath, now one of the King's Eagles - and still grieving over the loss of Sanglant - is desperately trying to unlock the secrets of her own past. Unless she masters her powers she may prove a grave danger to everyone, herself included. Alain, now proclaimed a Count's heir, is increasingly troubled by visions of the enemy he befriended and the Lady of Battles whom he's sworn to serve.

Unless she masters her powers she may prove a grave danger to everyone, herselfincluded. Alain, now proclaimed a Count's heir, is increasingly troubled by visions of the enemy he befriended and the Lady of Battles whom he's sworn to serve. And Fifth Brother, least favoured son of Bloodheart, has returned to the lands of his own people to unite the scattered tribes and build an army to do his father's bidding.

While King Henry continues his progress through his troubled realm, Sanglant, Liath, Alain and Fifth Brother fight their own individual battles. Only time will tell whowill prove triumphant as all of them are caught up in the dangers and turmoil of a world at war.

QUOTES
"Prince of Dogs is the perfect second book. It draws you on from the first outstanding introduction to this new universe and drops you off ready and willing for the third. Kate Elliott is a master of her craft, able to leave you breathless and emotionally wrung out with the simple flip of a page." -Fantasy Book Review

"Elliott continues to weave an elegantly intricate tapestry of full-bodied characters who will fascinate and intrigue readers up to the very last page." -RT Book Reviews

"[Elliot is] a master of characterization and a whiz at creating a fully-fleshed fantasy world. By turns, she lets the readers be Sanglant, and Liath, and Alain, and Fifth Son, and little Anna. Fantasy connoisseurs, you shouldn't pick this up for any pre-sleep bedtime reading. You won't be able to slip a bookmark in and lay this on the bedside table; don't even try." -CurledUp.com

REVIEWS

The Library Journal:
"Continuing the story begun in King's Dragon (DAW, 1997), Elliott weaves together the destinies of star-crossed lovers, ambitious churchmen, and barbarian invaders in a dazzling medieval fantasy set in an alternate Europe. Reminiscent of Katherine Kurtz's Deryni series, this engrossing saga should appeal to fantasy lovers and fans of historical epics alike. Recommended for most fantasy collections."

Kirkus Reviews:
"A solidly engrossing addition to a worthwhile series."
